The main airport is Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), located about 28 miles from The Cape. The drive typically takes around 45 minutes.

 

Getting Around

Uber is available throughout Los Cabos and is authorized to pick up and drop off guests at The Cape lobby. Please note that Uber cannot pick up from the airport.

Surf:
The best spot in San Jose del Cabo is Costa Azul by the Hotel Cabo Surf

Sportfishing:
Mostly available from the Cabo San Lucas Marina with boats of all sizes and prices

Golf:
Near from The Cape the most popular golf course is Cabo del Sol or Cabo Real Golf for their scenic views and you can book thru the hotel.

EXPLORE

San José Art Walk:
Visit Calle Álvaro Obregón in San José del Cabo, home to many local galleries, including the interactive Ivan Guaderrama Gallery. While peak Art Walk season runs from November to May, many galleries still open on Thursday evenings around 5 PM year-round.

The Cabo San Lucas Arch:
A world-famous natural landmark. Water taxis are available from Medano Beach or the marina for approximately $15 USD per person.

Before You Go

  • The Mexican peso; US dollars are widely accepted in most of the resorts and restaurants as well as Visa and MasterCard. 

    However, American Express is accepted in only a few businesses and some resorts will not accept payment cash in US dollars. 

    American checks are not accepted in Los Cabos. 

    Also, most of the ATMs will provide you only pesos. 

    Please note that Costco will only take payment in cash dollars up to $250usd but they accept your credit card.

    Make sure you contact your bank before you visit Mexico to inform them of your trip so they do not block your credit cards.

  • There is now Uber in Los Cabos but they have no access to pick you up from the airport so you would need to make prior arrangements for pick-up but Ubers are widely available now around town.

    Uber is authorized to pick up and drop off guests at The Cape motor lobby. 

    Taxis from the airport are available, but they mostly do not accept credit card payments, cash only and their rate is quite high and non-negotiable.

  • In July, temperatures in Los Cabos are usually between 90°F–95°F and sunny. The humidity is usually between 65% and 70%.

  • The Los Cabos area is fortunate to have 21 miles of sandy shoreline. The majority of beaches in Los Cabos are not safe for swimming due to strong undercurrents and riptides. 

    The swimmable beaches are Medano Beach, Santa Maria Bay, Chileno Bay, Palmilla Beach, and Costa Azul beach all located on the Sea of Cortez, no swimming is allowed on the Pacific Coast.
